This guy might have been the worst pitching coach the Mets ever had, which was fitting, because he worked under the worst Mets manager, Dallas Green. Pavlick is responsible for failing to develop the talented young pitchers the Mets had, some of whom are still playing today (Schourek, Isringhausen, Pulsipher, Wilson).

Yep, he bears much of the responsibility for the Generation K disaster. And he replaced Mel Stottlemyre, who went back to Yankees and annual pennant races. But don't forget that Pavlick was a fixture on the Davey Johnson teams, which counts for more than something.
