HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Hot Foot
October 12, 2022
Ostensibly, I'm reposting about Brett the Met (ok, that's going to get annoying after a while) so soon because I meant to say that I was wrong about his nickname. I said it was his nickname in little league, but that's wrong. He played for a little league team called the Mets in his local community, so AT SCHOOL they called him "Brett the Met". Honestly, he's going to need a new nickname because it's a bit redundant now, isn't it?

Oh and Alex, let me preface this by saying that I'm a fan of your posts, and I'm also a fan of Mike Francesa. I miss him, so I was thinking- before every one of your posts, you should write, "And we're back." And then you should do a "read" i.e an advertisement, you know, for maybe Cuban cigars or dog food before you start your post. I think that would be awesome; think about it.

You're right about Baty. He looked shaky after his homer, as if MLB pitchers were quick to exploit his weaknesses. His swing seems a bit long. I usually listen to Mets games so I don't see the games, but I saw the SNY broadcast of a game that Brett played in, and I watched his at bats like a hawk. Here's my hot take: THE GUY HAS AN ARROGANT, GOOFY SMILE EVERY TIME HE BATS! Am I the only one who saw that? Is it just my imagination, or does Brett Baty have a strange smile on his face as he faces the pitcher? He reminds me of that scene from Full Metal Jacket, you know, the one where the drill sergeant says, "Do you think I'm cute, Private Pyle? Do you think I'm funny?"

I can imagine Bob Gibson, if he were still with us, take one look at Baty in the batters box and say, "I'm gonna give you three seconds--exactly three f'ing seconds--to wipe that stupid-looking grin off your face, or I will gouge out your eyeballs and skull-f&@# you! One! Two! Three!" And you know, he's like Private Pyle, he can't stop smiling, so bang, a fastball off the helmet. All I'm saying is that Brett might need to work on his poker face.

If YOU have any thoughts on Brett Baty's future at third base or his silly grin, give us a call at (877) 337-6666. That's (877) 337-6666.
