Every time I see his name, I keep thinking he was involved with the Watergate scandal. Yet, that guy was Haldeman, and this young gentleman with a 1-0 record and 0.00 ERA in 8 IP is Holderman.
I have to find I way to stop getting them mixed up.

Hot Foot, forget about the Watergate thing. Just think of Colin as having the perfect last name for a middle reliever. He seems to be suited for that role.

Lucius, great insight. Now I will think of him as the Robocop of the Mets' middle relievers, built to do one task and one task only: get the bad guys.

The Colin Holderman trade is less than a week old and somehow it feels like another era when he was pitching for the Mets. They have not won since the trade (the team is currently on a three game losing streak). When I heard about it, I wanted to throw a temper tantrum like a five year old and start screaming (in a quivering, whiny five-year old's voice): "I DON'T WANT DANIEL VOGELBACH! I WANT COLIN HOLDERMAN BACK! I HATE THE METS!" while breaking things in my room, then collapsing and rolling around on the floor, crying.
It's over 48 hours later and I still feel that way, except now, with some time to reflect, I can say of course I don't hate the Mets now because of one trade. I just don't think they're going to win anymore, because you don't win by trading away winners.
After losing three straight (two since the trade), the Mets are only 0.5 games up. Soon, first place will be gone as well because current Mets management doesn't appreciate a guy with a 4-0 record and a 2.04 ERA. At best, it's called "selling at a premium", but that's what rebuilding teams do, not winners.
The Watergate guy turned Robocop is now my generation's Jeff Reardon (cue fake crying).

Holderman was a nice little asset to have around and it was kind of a bummer to see him go. It was cool—he was a homegrown guy who, relatively speaking, exploded onto the scene.
Then he was gone. And all the Mets got in return was Daniel Vogelblob.
Considering how finicky the bullpen has been in 2023, maybe keeping Holderman around would have been the better idea.
