Can I just say that all of the Mets starting pitchers this year have cool nicknames? Leading the crew is Mad Max, and his co-ace waiting in the wings is called the deGrominator. Their protege is a guy nicknamed Big Drip. The staff also includes a veteran called Cookie and a man whose friends call him Tai-Weezy. Then, not last, and certainly not least, we have C Bass. I think "Bassitt Hound" also has a nice ring to it, but C Bass is better.
Makes me think of the days of the Doctor, El Sid, and Coney. However, you'd have to admit that as great as those pitchers were, their nicknames pale in comparison to the 2022 Mets starting pitchers.
Kick their asses C Bass!

2022 was an awesome year for Bassitt. He wasn't flashy or showy but he was dependable. He didn't cost us too much but delivered 15 wins, s 3.42 ERA, a great BB rate, a solid K rate, a solid HR rate. He led the team in starts and innings pitched. He had a five-start rough patch in May/June where he had a 7.96 ERA. Before that, his mark was 2.34 in seven starts. After that, it was 2.78 in 18 starts. So outside of a five-game, 26 inning run early in the season, he was a sub-3.00 ERA pitcher.
He has a $19 million mutual option for 2023. Not sure if the Mets are going to give that to him. But I'd sure love to see him back next year.

Before he was a quality Mets pitcher for, unfortunately, just a single season, Bassitt signed an autograph through-the-mail for me care of the Triple-A Nashville Sounds in April 2018. That was back when he was still in the Athletics system and had yet to establish himself in the majors.
