His nickname is "Tom Ace" from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, which, though somewhat unmemorable, is totally cool, especially when you consider that Chris Bassitt's nickname (C Bass) is inspired by another classic Jim Carrey film. However, for some reason, Canha reminds me of "Poindexter" from the 1984 film Revenge of the Nerds. I think of him as "Poindexter" whenever I see him, and I think it's a good alternate. Perhaps the reason is because I can imagine him playing the violin really badly. Also, just like Poindexter, he never gives up, no matter what, no matter what the score is. And honestly, he just looks like a nerd. If "Ogre" saw him, he would probably start shouting "NERD! NERD! NERD!"

Classic movies aside, his tough at bats are bringing back some wonderful memories of Ray Knight in 1986. That guy never gave up an at bat either.

He contributed a decent 13 homers, a decent 61 RBI, a decent 24 doubles, a decent 71 runs scored, a surprisingly excellent 122 OPS+. Led the league in HBP. Just a quality player to have around. It's awesome that we have him for at least another year.

Also I love his walkup song, M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes." That song sounds as fresh as when it came out 15 years ago. What a great tune.

I wasn't too bummed losing him, but the guy we received from the Brewers in return for him, Justin Jarvis, has been a bit of a letdown in the minors so far.
