Drury was what the Mets needed more of back in 2021. Always came in clutch, especially during pitch hitting situations. Pissed we didn’t resign him, because he would’ve been the perfect utility player to round out the team.

Drury was an excellent bench option in 2021, hitting as high as .317 at one point and carrying a .300 mark through August 16. He cooled off toward the end of the season and finished in the .270s, but he still ended the year with a .476 slugging percentage.
I thought the Mets should have brought him back for 2022 and they must be kicking themselves that they didn't, as he is currently hitting .278 with 18 home runs, 50 RBI, a .532 slugging percentage and 132 OPS+ for the Reds this year.

Honestly, my biggest fear about the 2022 Wild Card Series was Brandon Drury coming back to haunt the Mets.
Sure, the Mets lost, but hey! Let's celebrate the fact that at least they held Drury to an 0 for 4 performance, with a strikeout. Dodged a bullet there.
As a Met, as I remember (and my memory is faulty because I remember 1986 more than last season) Drury was a great pinch hitter, but maybe I'm wrong.
One thing is for sure: I just checked his 2021 splits and he raked while playing at Citi Field, hitting .390 with a .781 slugging average and a 1.999 OPS.
Drury is another odd case (like Aaron Loup) of a one-year Mets player playing above the level of expectations and being allowed to walk. Obviously Mets brass expected him to regress.
In 2022, he hit .298 with a .561 slugging average and a .915 OPS at Cincinnati, and hit .195, slugged .299, and had an OPS of .562 at Petco Park so they were right to a degree, but they still should have re-signed him.
Small consolation that he didn't hurt the Mets. That would have been unbearable considering the performance of the Mets substitutes in 2022.

The Mets ditched him after a single season (2021) in which they gave him only 84 at-bats and he goes on to win the Silver Slugger with the Reds in 2022.
Sounds about right.
