The Yankees are 28-9 at the moment, and Castro's 1.46 ERA (in 12.1 innings) is part of that success. If the Mets face have to face Castro in a potential Subway Series this year, that trade will really come back to wreak havoc on our collective psyches.

A totally stupid and imbalanced transaction. The 2021 Mets bullpen was the first in a while where everything seemed to click, by and large, and I was pretty much satisfied. Castro was a big part of that. He didn't post Aaron Loup numbers (6-0, 0.95 ERA), but he was a reliable piece of that bullpen. You didn't have to worry too much when he came out of it.

So they decide to trade him for a guy who is three years older, who has a career ERA that's half a point higher, a career H/9 that's two points worse and who doesn't have the track record of Castro? Really?

Castro, by the way, is now 27, so he is just entering his prime. And the Mets ditched him.

I get it. Metrics, etc. Rodriguez must have them. But what convoluted algorithms decided Rodriguez was an equal trade for Castro? I can never tell. The dude's best year came in Japan. Outside of that, he's a Quadruple-A reliever. Castro is a seasoned veteran who has had multiple solid campaigns.

As of this writing, Castro's 2022 ERA is 3.29. Rodriguez's is 4.60. Gee, who could've seen that coming.
