It's hard to believe this is the same guy who was striking out 15 per nine frames with the Yankees back in the day. Four straight All-Star Games, two years with ERAs of 1.50 or lower with the Yanks and all we get are 16 games and a 7.82 ERA. At a cost of $13.5 million.
What a dud.

Imagine you're 16 years old, and you're older brother or cousin (the Evil One) says, "Hey, I'm going to give you my car. I got a new one." And you're like, "For FREE?" And he's like, "Yeah. Free. Just sign this contract." And you're so happy you jump up and give him a hug (which you have never done) and sign the contract without reading it, which says you owe $562,000 per month in payments for the next two years. And then you find out the car doesn't run and was recently ransacked by crackheads.
That's what it was like for the Mets when they got Dellin Betances.

Betances' tenure with the Mets was so bad that, despite playing just 16 games with them, his career ERA rose 17 points—from 2.36 to 2.53.
Back in the day, very early in his pro career, he would sign autographs regularly through the mail. However, by the time I sent to him (twice) care of the Yankees in 2015, he had stopped signing, so I never received a response to my requests.
