PLEASE NOTE:
By submitting your message, you are NOT sending an e-mail to Scott Rice. Please direct your comments to your fellow Mets fans, and not to any individual player. Thank you.

We'd like to thank all of you who have posted such great comments since we went online in 1999! Please take a moment to review our revised guidelines, below.

Guidelines

Please feel free to share any memories, good or bad, that you may have of any Mets player. It's okay to be critical, but please try to keep the language suitable for family reading. All submissions are reviewed before they are posted to the site. We will edit or reject your entries if they use offensive language, excessive HTML tags, or are off-topic.

Also, please remember that this is not a bulletin board. We're looking to use fan memories to flesh out our profiles of each individual player. When you post a question, such as "What high school did he go to?" you're not "sharing a memory" and your question, unless it is combined with an actual memory of the player, will be removed.

This is also not a place to engage in conversations. You may, of course, want to respond to a comment made by another reader. And as long as your response contains memories or opinions of the player in question, that's fine. But if a conversation should stray off into, for example, a discussion of the infield fly rule, we'll step in and cut things off.

We've also had to remove a number of comments that don't actually say anything, such as "I love Mike Piazza!" Or, "He's Mookie!" Tell us why you love Mike Piazza, or better yet, why he's Mookie, and your comments will remain. But short statements that don't say anything simply take up space, and will be removed.

We're also not terribly interested in jokes or silly comments based solely on the player's name, such as comparisons between Jon Matlack and Andy Griffith's TV character "Matlock." Or Joe Frazier the manager and Joe Frazier the heavyweight boxer. Such comments, you guessed it, will be removed.

If you think you've spotted an error, this is not the place to report it. Instead, write to us and we'll look into it and make any necessary corrections.

You may use HTML tags for paragraph breaks, italics, or hyperlinks. Using giant-sized bold text to make your comments stand out, however, is not permitted. If you do such a thing, we won't necessarily delete your comments, but we will remove the tags.

All of the above guidelines are subject to our own discretion. If a memory bends one of our rules, but is posted by someone who has made quality contributions in the past, we'll sometimes (but not always) let it slide.

Please don't let any of the above guidelines intimidate you, however. You don't have to be a hard-core baseball expert to post here. Whether your comments involve the mechanics of throwing a curve ball, an actual encounter with a player, or your thoughts on a player's hairdo, please share them with us. The wide variety of comments that we've received are entertaining to your fellow readers, and to us as well. Keep them coming!

We are a completely unofficial site, so you may freely and openly criticize any player, or Mets management, past or present. So if the player you're writing about was involved in a stupid trade (Jim Fregosi, for example) don't feel obligated to hold back!

On the other hand, of course, you're welcome to gush about your favorite players. We're all fans, after all, and hopefully we have more positive memories than negative ones!
