	Shea's New 3d Loop Is 'The Continental' New York Daily News, July 28, 1959 An earlier tactic of Bill Shea in his effort to bring a new team to New York was to form a third Major League, known as the Continental League. This was a significant step in the eventual birth of the Mets.
