HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Managed against Dallas Green in the 1980 World Series between the Frey's Royals and Green's Phillies. Both were rookie managers that year - first time in World Series history that that ever happened. The highlights video features a couple of funny scenes of Frey yelling at umpires. At one point, he and Pete Rose got to scream with each other as well. Green, Tug, and company prevailed. Frey has been second-guessed ever since for his handling of his pitching staff. Interestingly, Green became GM of the Cubs in 1982, taking the team to the postseason in 1984. His manager that year? Jim Frey.

With the Mets, Frey's big moment came when Pete Falcone claimed that his bad pitching was the Lord's will. Frey told Falcone to ask the Lord if it was okay for him to throw strikes.

Jin Frey was a Met coach at the time, was listening to post-game remarks from Pete Falcone after a rough outing. Falcone was calling his start, the "Good Lord's will, etc.". Frey says, "Maybe the Good Lord could get him to throw a strike". Funny stuff.
