Asked about his most enduring memory memory of 1993, McCraw replied, "There's no one memory. The whole season was one long rerun."

I agree with JFK the Tom McCraw was one of the best hitting coaches. I got to experience his expertise first hand during spring training in 1995. While the big league players were on strike, the big league coaches were required to be in Port St. Lucie helping out with the minor leaguers. I learned more from Tom about hitting than in any of the years leading up to it. He worked hard to help me improve my hitting abilities.

Slick fielding, speedy first baseman who played a lot of centerfield. Was Moose Skowron's caddy from 64-66 often coming into games late. Once slammed 3 home runs and drove in 8 in a '67 game. Kinda like a speedier Mike Jorgensen with a little less power.

I played with Tom in 1960 with Clinton of the Midwest League and again in 1961 with Idaho Falls of the Pioneer League. Tom is a great guy. I never saw anyone hit more line drives than Tom. After the 1961 season Tom and Brian MacCall and I drove home together to California. I believe Tom lived in Venice,Ca.

I know Tom as a hitting coach and a friend. Players usually use the word "awesome" to describe his ability to help them. For quite some years now I have had the privilege of watching him one on one with young players. He pick up on the nuances of every player and is a master at using psychology to help adjust hitter's attitudes and general mental approach to hitting.

Mostly though, he is a solid caring human being with a deep sense of integrity and an intact value system. I am proud to count him as a friend.
