Gary Pettis did his job and then some. With him as baserunning coach, the Mets stole with better efficiency than pretty much the entire league and ran with more effectiveness than they ever did under Mookie.

Firing all Howe's coaches (except Rick Peterson) may make sense symbolically, but it doesn't make much baseball sense to me.
