Gary Encerti attended Vallejo Sr High School, and was considered a BMOC; he was tall, dark and handsome, and boy did he know it! All the girls (including me) had crushes on him! I knew he'd gone into pro baseball, but never knew which team/teams he'd played on. The last time I saw him was at a club he'd opened up after he'd left the pro team he'd played on, but it was unfortunately a financial flop.

It would be fun to know what he's up to now.

As a fellow Little Leaguer who played in another league across town, all we heard, or read about was Gary Encerti, who played for West Vallejo's Gas-Mart team. When his team was playing in a championship game, my friend and I rode our bikes across town to see him play. Gary was very big for a 12 year old, and he hit 2 home runs in that game. He continued to develop into a good pitcher, and he beat us for the high school championship in 1963. He was an all around good athlete who excelled at baseball. He signed with the Mets after his senior high school year.
