September 19, 2008 Teammate of mine in 1977. Actually we were roommates in Jackson and Tidewater, signed by the same scout, Roy Partee. A great story. Was in his wedding in 1977. We were at the Ole Miss vs. Notre Dame. Had to leave with 6 minutes to go in the game. Ole Miss came back to upset them and Notre Dame went on to be #1 in the nation that year with JOE MONTANA.
Ned went on to have a successful playing career and coaching career was managing the Milwaukee Brewers until Monday. Turned the organization around in 6 years of managing and his reward: fired with 2 weeks to go in the season. Great comment and class act though. He was going to be able to spend his 31st wedding anniversary with his lovely wife Debbie.
I GUARANTEE HE WILL BE MANAGING ANOTHER TEAM SOON. GREAT GREAT TEAMMATE AND BASEBALL MAN. HOPE HE GETS MANAGER OF THE YEAR.
June 18, 2009 Eating Angelo's pizza in the bullpen after so many Wausau Mets games.
June 18, 2009 Ned was the first pro catcher I saw throw from up close. Spring 1975, old Payson Complex in St Pete. I was a scared 18 year old. Went out on the fields and Yost was throwing to second and I remember thinking to myself, "Holy geeezz." The guy had an absolute gun! Pitchers had to get out of the way or be cut in half.
