I thought Manny Acosta was a solid pitcher for the Mets in 2010--he had a 2.95 ERA in 41 appearances, after all. It kind of stinks that he didn't make the team out of spring training in 2011, I think he would have been a much better choice than D.J. Carrasco.

With an ERA at 11 and almost June the Mets have finally released Manny Acosta.

My memory of Manny Acosta is that every time he pitched his demeanor on the mound was pathetic. He looked defeated, as if he'd just been told his cat just died. Absolutely no swagger at all. By the end, every time he came into the game became the Acostalypse. Now he's back with AAA Buffalo. Please no more.

An addendum to my post from way back in 2011. Acosta is one of my pet "he was a lot better than we remember" pitchers in Mets history.
He didn't pitch much (never more than 50 games in a season), but when he did, he was solid -- he averaged more than a strikeout per inning, he had a decent walk rate, didn't give up too many hits.
Even his horrid final season with the club, 2012, was really just a horrid first two months of the season. He had an ERA of 11.86 through May ... then he disappeared in June and for most of July. Upon his return, he had a 1.78 ERA through the final 26 appearances of the season, which was more than half his total appearances that year. But all people see is the 6.46 ERA he posted overall.
I'll always remember Acosta as a little diamond in the rough Mets fans don't appreciate enough. I'd probably take five Acostas (2010-2011 version, at least) in the bullpen over the one awesome guy and handful of clunkers they usually have.
