I have no memory of Jon Adkins. But it has been over a year since he has worn the uniform, and no one has commented yet. Every Met deserves at least one comment! So here goes:
Jon Adkins is tied for the all-time Met lead in ERA. (Don't ask me who he's tied with.)

He may be a nice guy and a good player, but this was a terrible deal, considering that Heath Bell turned out to be a very good reliever while Adkins and his trade- mate, Ben Johnson, were flops.

Adkins was a very up-and-down reliever during his career, in terms of service and performance. He played from 2003 to 2008; check out his number of appearances each season, respectively: 4, 50, 5, 55, 1, 4. And check out his ERAs: 4.82, 4.65, 8.64, 3.98, 0.00, 2.45.
That "1" and "0.00" represent Adkins' Mets career. Not too shabby, but not worth what the Mets surrendered to get it. He, alongside the immortal Ben Johnson, was acquired from the Padres in exchange for relievers Heath Bell and Royce Ring.
Ring had a 3.60 ERA in his brief Padres career, but the real loss was Bell -- he made 3 All-Star Games, won 2 Rolaids Relief Awards, saved 168 games and made the Hall of Fame ballot in his post-Mets career. From 2007 to 2011, he was one of the game's premier closers.
And all New York got in return was an inning of work from Adkins, and a .185 batting average from Johnson.
*For the trivia buffs: His career 0.00 Mets ERA has been accomplished 18 other times, first by Bob Johnson in 1969 most recently by Todd Frazier and Luis Guillorme in 2020. Dan Schatzeder had the longest Mets career with a 0.00 ERA (6 games); CJ Nitkowski ties him if you go by innings (5 2/3).

Way back in 2005, when he was still with the White Sox, Jon Adkins signed two cards for me through-the-mail in just over 200 days.
There's not much to say about his Mets career, since it lasted just one inning.
He went to play in Korea not long after his tenure with the Mets, saving 26 games for the Lotte Giants in 2009.
