I'm sorry but this guy blows. It's hard to believe the Mets sounded like they won the lottery when they won the "Danny Graves Sweepstakes". Considering he was cut by a lousy Cincinnati team in the middle of the season it's surpising there were so many teams gonig after him. He has been lousy all year for the Reds and has not been too sharp here at Shea. He gave up a couple of dingers to the Phillies in this late June series and looks very hittable. The signing of him was strange whereas he was in the locker room with a jersey 2 days before he actually signed. I liked the fact that he says the Mets feel like a playoff team to him. Too bad they sunk into the cellar right after he said that.

I think it's too early to give up on this guy yet! While he hasn't been the same since he moved into the rotation 2 years ago, he's still young enough to get his stuff straightened out. This could be the real test for coach Rick Peterson. He's done an amazing job with Heilman and Zambrano, and Graves could make it a trifecta. Time will tell.

Could he be just a bit more ATROCIOUS? The Mets should know better than to try and take on players who hit the skids like this-they don't experience career rebirths unless they go to the Braves or the Yankees. I hope they move him and fast before he can pitch another inning for this team.

I cannot stand watching Graves pitch. It's almost like you know he is going to mess up but you just don't know how. He may walk the ballpark, he may give up a 2 run homer, he may throw a wild pitch, or he might hit the batter! I think I should make a board game called "Graves Roulette" where the players bet on how many runs he'll give up from the 10 run lead that he was brought in to 'protect.' It's sad though because it sort of isn't his fault, he used to be a decent closer at one time but then he was changed into a starter and that messed him all up!

Danny Graves has become a right-handed version of Rich Rodriguez in that no lead is safe when he comes into the game. Willie Randolph must have had a bout of temporary insanity by taking Pedro out of an 8-0 game after 6 innings and putting Graves on the mound. What does Graves proceed to do? Walk the leadoff hitter, the dumbest thing a pitcher could do. With an 8-run lead a pitcher should throw nothing but strikes. The inning spiraled downhill from there turning an 8-0 lead into an 8-6 lead, and it all started with a leadoff walk by Graves. Pathetic.

Ahh, Danny Graves: Was pretty good in Cincinnati but lost his fastball a bit and his senses when he did a Jack McDowell to the fans after an ignorant fan called him a racial slur. Danny didn't deserve it but remember Cincinnati was the town that called Jackie Robinson everything except a human being and all Pee Wee Reese did was put his arm on his shoulder when things got rough. Maybe he needed Joe Randa to put his arm around him and the Mets woulda not wasted $$$ on the most quirky reliever since Turk Wendell. He was a pox on the Mets and in other things as well (He was in Nick and Jessica's Wedding Party and we all know how THAT turned out). Thank god that Omar went out and got Billy Wagner.

How appropiate that he gives the middle finger to fans. We feel the same way!

Did anyone see HBO's "Real Sports" segment where Danny went back to Vietnam with his mom for the 1st time since he was a baby? Wonderful story and very heartwarming. Too bad it didn't work out in Flushing for Danny and I wish him all the best in Cleveland.

Ah, Danny Graves. Next time you have a trivia contest with some other baseball fan, you can ask him "who is the first and only Major League player from South Vietnam?" Danny Graves would be the answer. Quirky reliver who had serious problems on and off the field. Somehow, though, he's still active with the Cleveland Indians. One of the Rich Rodriguez types that isn't particularly good but stays around forever; the fans meanwhile can't wait for him to go away.
