HERE IS WHAT OTHER METS FANS HAVE TO SAY:

Dave Weathers may not be Turk Wendell. However he will do. I think he could repeat the numbers he had last year in 2001. He will be expected to setup a lot.

Weathers is a work horse, pure and simple. He will come through for the Mets in big situations later on in the year.

I never thought much of this guy when he was with the Yankees but he bacame a good pitcher a few years ago and has been pretty damn good for the Mets. He's a fighter and a work horse. I just hope Bobby V. doesn't burn him out. He seems likes a money pitcher.

i really like this guy. He just quietly goes out there and does his job. I hope he sticks around as a Met.

I like David Weathers too, he's extremely consistant which is rare in a Mets reliever. I also love the fact that he looks just like Tackleberry from the Police Academy movies.

Boy has this guy been bad this year or what. I thought he was real solid in 2002 but he has been very up and down this year and I have no confidence in him whatsoever. I went to tonights game against the Marlins and he put the first three guys on in the 8th with a 3 run lead. He actually needed Benitez to bail him out. Benitez came in with a rain of Boos and struck out the first two batter and got the last one to fly out. When Benitez came in Ithought everyone was booing Weathers performance when he walked off the mound but then when I saw Benitez coming in realized who the boos were really for. Once a great bullpen is now very suspect since Weathers has been so bad this year.

Weathers pitched very well in the second half of 2003 after my last post but has been horrendous this year. They should have traded him during the off season. I shudder when I see him coming into a game now. He isn't even hot and cold any more, he's just cold. Can we still get anything for him on the trade front? I doubt it.

Well, Mr. Sparkle, we sure did get something in trade for Weathers! I wonder how long Hidalgo (up one year, down the next) will stay productive, though.

As a pitcher, Weathers always struck me as fair -- no more, no less. He never really made me cringe, but I never felt that he had the stuff to really snuff out rallies either. Even somebody like Bob Wickman has been able to put up a lot of major-league saves.
