He was fun to watch, and loved to play. He had a flashy way about him. He was awesome, probably could have been the best ever if they gave him a chance!

"Could've been the best ever?" Dude, you must be smoking something really good.

Wayne was a great player and a fun person to be around. I really miss him.

He was a baseball player who had a knack for being in the right place at the right time I suppose.

I grew up the next town over from Wayne in Virginia. I also played on the same American Legion baseball team as him and he was the best amateur athlete I've ever seen. Every time he stole second base, he never had to slide, always arriving standing up. Believe it or not, he was a better running back than baseball player.

It's a little known fact that Wayne hit the first home run at JetForm Park in Ottawa. The Charlotte Knights, then an Indians farm team, were in town to face the Lynx on April 17, 1993, and Wayne hit a home run to push the Knights ahead. I think the final score was 5-3. Those who arrived early also got to see Wayne imitating Smokey Robinson during a rain delay in batting practice.

Had a cup of coffee with the Amazin's (OK, 1/2 a cup according to Coach Brain Dennehy from the Cape Cod baseball/love story movie "Summer Catch") but his brother Terry was a pretty decent running back with the Miami Dolphins in the mid-1990's.
