This guy had closer stuff when he was in the Houston organization. I think he blew out his arm. I was at the game he pitched and was impressed.

Like yours truly, born on May 7. He helped the 1986 Astros win a couple of games, but did not make their postseason roster. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if he was in the dugout watching one of MLB's greatest NLCS's ever.

In the mid 80's I was a bat boy for the Salt Lake Gulls, Seattle Mariners AAA affiliate at the time. The Tucson Toros came into town. I got to spend time with Manny for a few days. He was great. He really gave me a taste of what a Professional Ball player was all about. We played catch, joked around and he taught me a few things about baseball. I was 13 at the time and I still wonder what ever happened to him. When the Toros went to leave he gave me a hundred bucks and thanked me for hanging out with him. I will never forget Manny as long as I live. I hope to someday talk to him again.
