He was around when I was; however, I was a mere toddler when he became the first Met to homer in four consecutive games. With Don Rowe's unusual record for most appearances without a decision down by the wayside, I think this is one of the few "positive" records still standing for the Mets from the early 1960s.

July 26, 1964: Larry Elliott crashes a pinch hit 3-run home run to send the nightcap into extra innings. Never forget it!

Looks like you have a great memory. After running the bases in the nightcap of a twin bill, Elliot was removed and did not appear in a game until Labor Day.

I was at Shea a few weeks earlier (July 26) when his pinch hit 3 run homer sent a game into extra innings vrs the Braves. I was 9 and it seems like last week.

I'm not sure, but I believe Larry Elliot visted my elementry school when I was in 2nd grade. It was Laurel Plains Elementry School in New City, New York. I think he might have been dating my very attractive teacher, Ms. Belford. I remember being so excited about a real New York Met being at my school that I practiced my sliding on the gym floor. If any of my classmates can confirm or deny this, let me know.

Larry Elliot was my high school baseball coach at Mira Mesa High 1980- 1982 in San Diego CA. Good man.

Highly touted left-hand-hitting outfielder. Ruben Amaro was the infielder who took Elliot out on the doubleplay. The ball hit Larry almost directly in the temple. It was one of the nastiest sights I have ever seen on a baseball diamond.

Coach Elliot was my baseball coach in 1976-1977 in high school. He motivated and taught at the same time. Very humble.

Coach Larry was my cross-country coach at Madison High in '75 and '76, before he went to the "new" Mira Mesa High School. When we went on our distance run days, Coach Elliot would follow us on our runs. He always let us know that if he caught up with us on the run, we had better have a very good reason. He was one of my heroes and mentors back then, and I will always think of him only in the highest regards. One night a bunch of us from the cross-country team decided to T.P. Coach Elliot's house. He caught us. Instead of being mad, he and his dear wife invited us into their home for some hot chocolate and tea. Class act all the way. God bless you forever Coach.
