March 15, 2002 Clem was a handy middle relief and spot starter for the Dodgers in Brooklyn and LA. But his arm was gone by 1962.
May 30, 2003 Labine had a great curve ball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. One of the top relief pitchers in the game. He had nothing left when he was acquired by the Mets.
February 22, 2007 Clem was a wonderful fella, who not only was a fine pitcher, but with his friends in Rhode Island, was known for his barbecues. He loved the sausage.
The Dodger fans in Brooklyn loved Clem!
March 2, 2007 I never saw him pitch, but Clem Labine was one of my father's all-time favorites. Dad loved to tell me how, in 1955, Clem had only 3 hits in 31 at-bats -- and all 3 were home runs. And these were the only HRs he hit in his 12-year career. That was a great year for him on the mound too as he helped pitch Brooklyn to its only World Championship. Pitched the last inning of the Mets' first game ever.

March 2, 2007 And another baseball light has been extinguished. A great many people will cry a tear, but with a wry smile, when we think of old Clem. Thank you for what you've given to us. A fan.
